Angelina Jolie’s next movie will be Universal’s “Wanted,” based upon a graphic novel.
Variety is reporting that she’ll play an assassin who agrees to take on an apprentice - played by James McAvoy - whose own hitman father was murdered. Morgan Freeman also stars in the movie. Timur Bekmambetov (the filmmaker behind the edgy, Russian “Night Watch” trilogy) will direct, with filming starting in Eastern Europe in May.
Jolie, of course, catapulted herself to superstardom by playing a hired gun in “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” alongside Brad Pitt. Audiences will next see Jolie playing Mariane Pearl, wife of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, in “A Mighty Heart,” produced by Pitt’s Plan B and directed by Michael Winterbottom. It is slated to open in June.
